Storm Darragh caused much damage and travel chaos in December 2024 with strong gusts recorded on 7 December getting towards 100mph. A number of deaths were reported as Storm Darragh impacted the UK, and over 2.3 million customers lost power during the storm. Approximately 3 million people were affected areas of Wales and South West England and were sent emergency alerts on their mobile phones in the largest use of the warning system since its official launch.
