Who are BGG Garden and Tree Care?
BGG began when Ben Gristwood aged 12 wanted to earn some pocket money at weekends. Being a strapping young man with lots of energy his mum took him, a lawn mower and set of tools around some of the local properties to do some gardening.
Those early days were all about graft, reliability and building trust one lawn and hedge at a time.
As demand grew, so did his ambition. What started as a one‑person effort soon became a small team, taking on private garden maintenance, hedge cutting and regular domestic work across the local area.
Word spread quickly, and the reputation for quality, consistency and care became the foundation the business was built on.
From there, the step into larger commercial projects came naturally. The team expanded, the equipment evolved and the scope of work broadened, from private gardens to commercial grounds, estates and eventually highways. What began as a weekend job has grown into a professional, multi‑service operation delivering reliable grounds maintenance and arboricultural services across the region.
Today, the business still carries the same values it started with: hard work, pride in the job and a commitment to doing things properly. The scale may have changed, but the mindset hasn’t… and that’s what continues to drive us forward.
A family-run business
We’re local people who have grown up in this area and we care about the people around us and the spaces around us. They are places for us and our family and friends to enjoy. So we take great pride in being able to enhance our outdoor spaces, helping gardens, grounds, and green areas look their best, stay healthy and remain safe for the people we care about.

Alongside Ben there is a passionate and committed group of individuals, some who have been there from the beginning and some that have joined along the journey. The common theme is they want to help this business continue to grow and provide the clients and community with the a great service.
We have a back office team that supports the administration, finance and devleopment aspects of the business. They all work closely with the teams on the ground that help deliver the work to our value customers.
